My grandparents went to Brazil after the war because they lost pretty much everything.

What I remember from their story, I’ve put into words in an ebook called Für Oma. The only photo that I have from them is in there.

In the story, I draw parallels between my Oma's confinement in the 20th century and my confinement today. She in Nazi Germany, me in the capital of a neo-Pentecostal Brazil. It’s about my family, but it’s also a social criticism.

When I finished writing the ebook, Brazil had surpassed the landmark of 160,000 deaths and I had been isolated for more than 7 months. On Christmas, there were already more than 190,000 deaths! And I was still in isolation... and counting.

UPDATE: By the end of July, 2021, Brazil had already surpassed 550,000 dead!!! (and the death toll will keep rising...)

Note on March 24, 2024: I came to live in Germany in 2021. Since then, I've discovered a few things about my grandparents' history that I didn't know. Maybe one day I'll revise/update this ebook, or maybe write a new one... One day.

Na história, traço paralelos entre o confinamento da minha Oma no século 20 e meu confinamento hoje. Ela na Alemanha nazista, eu na capital de um Brasil neopentecostal sem rumo. É sobre minha família, mas também é uma crítica social.

Quando terminei de escrever o ebook, o Brasil havia ultrapassado a marca de 160.000 mortes e eu estava isolada há mais de 7 meses. No Natal, já haviam sido mais de 190.000 mortes! E eu ainda estava em isolamento... e contando.

ATUALIZAÇÃO: Ao final de julho de 2021, o país já havia ultrapassado 550 mil mortos!!! (e o nº de mortos continuará aumentando...)

NOTA de 24/03/2024: Vim morar na Alemanha em 2021. Desde então, já descobri algumas coisas sobre a história dos meus avós que são eu não sabia. Talvez um dia eu faça uma revisão/atualização desse ebook, ou quem sabe escreva um novo... Um dia.
